Episode Highlights

How To Build Your List To Land More Clients

If you’re clear about the shape you want your coaching business to take, but can’t quite figure out what the heck to do to get there, this episode will be music to your ears.

My guest Michelle Cox dreams of juggling a mix of one-on-one coaching and VIP days, alongside running a small group and building a community of writers. It’s all about offering that special sauce in various formats without spreading herself too thin. And guess what? It’s totally doable.

We broke it down, and it turns out that her services all aim for the same outcome – getting that book out of your head and into the world. The trick? Different paths to the same destination.

But to make this dream a reality, Michelle needs an audience. Yep, a list of folks eager to hear what she’s got to say.

Michelle’s vision isn’t just a pipe dream; it’s a plan waiting to happen.

How To Attract More Clients

In my chat with Michelle, we uncovered that chasing the next big idea without a plan is a recipe for staying stuck.

Michelle’s been on the lookout for a magic remedy to draw people in. But it’s really about building a solid foundation and keeping your eyes on building a list of people who can’t wait to hear from her.

And how’s she planning to do it? By creating a consistent approach that doesn’t just chase quick fixes but focuses on long-term strategy.

In a nutshell, to land more clients and truly scale, it’s not about the next flashy tactic. It’s about laying down daily habits that build your list and keep your audience engaged, dripping with anticipation for what you have to offer.

Simple Insights To Level Up Your Game

One: Presentation Matters

If your lead magnet opt-in page isn’t converting, it may not be the lead magnet. Instead, it’s likely your message.

That landing page of yours? It could be the copy, the design, or maybe it doesn’t scream “click me!” loud enough. Aim for a 40% conversion rate – that’s where the magic happens. But hey, let’s not just aim; let’s get those numbers by tweaking, not overhauling your strategy.

Two: Connect On Social Media

Michelle was all ears when we talked about getting her lead magnet out there more effectively. Social media, especially Instagram, is her playground. So, why not make the most of it? Quick, engaging Instagram reels can showcase her lead magnet in a way that feels personal and relatable. Think less salesy, more “Hey, I’m Michelle, and I’m here to help.”

It’s not about constant newness or pushing content non-stop. It’s about being smart and showing the real Michelle. Videos, Reels, and maybe a sprinkle of client success stories can make all the difference.

Here’s a spicy little tip – instead of only pushing posts, directly upload a reel to your Stories. People feel the connection more. Why? Because they see the real deal. Plus, it’s an easy habit that can take just 10 minutes of your week.

Now, let’s talk call to action. Think “Want more? DM me your email.”And just like that, you’ve hooked them. No robots, no gimmicks, just you reaching out with your authentic voice – maybe even shock them a little with an audio message. A personal touch like that? It’s gold.

So you’ve caught their attention; what’s next?

Propose a little something to whet their writing appetite. Maybe an eight-step plan to get rid of that pesky imposter syndrome or the skills to finally pen that book. Boom! You’ve got their interest, and just like that, they’re on your list.

But what about the creepers, you ask?

Ah, that daily dose of blocking  –  joy, right? Filtering them out is part of the drill. Dedicate 20 minutes each day to sifting through the new faces. Trust me, the more you engage with your genuine content, the more genuine followers you’ll attract.

Now, stick to it.

Consistency is your new best friend. It transforms this from a try-out into a habit that could seriously help you land more clients. And that, my friends, could be the nudge your mailing list needs to grow from 550 to 1600 potential clients. Do the math – it all adds up to reaching your goal of having those coveted private sessions, VIP days, and small groups.

Three: Hidden Goldmines

And speaking of exposure, are you emailing your list each and every week? Michelle used to hit send weekly, then not so much. Now, she’s back at it, seeing results. Consistency is key!

Guesting on podcasts can be a goldmine too. Michelle snagged a client from just one episode. So, why not pitch your story to podcasts? Have a topic ready and shoot off those emails weekly.

Finding ways to land more clients isn’t rocket science. It’s about authentic connections, a sprinkle of effort, and a dash of smart strategy. Get these small habits down, and you’re golden.

The Straight Talk on Growing Your Client Base

I’ll let you in on a secret: list building doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a long-game strategy. Referrals and social media are your gold mines.

Consistent, steady actions are what’s going to up your game. Stick to a plan, give it at least 90 solid days (I know, longest three months ever), and only tweak things like your landing page if it’s converting fewer looky-loos than a clearance bin at a yard sale.

Face it – the long game is not a fireworks show. It’s boring, it takes patience, but oh boy, does it land more clients in the end!

So, welcome to Team Boring. It’s where the magic happens. Let’s get consistently, fantastically, boringly brilliant, shall we?
